I was asked to make three little acorns, after the huge acorn last month, and each one is a bit different. The cores to two of them are brass tubes- a valve from an old gas cooker and jack from a very old amplifier. The third has bolts and washers in its middle. Around each middle is woven a small basket of the silvery wire from armoured cable, lidded with a lattice of more ordinary electrical pure copper wire. Very fiddly indeed.
Here’s one up a tree, reminding me of a large copper dragon I sold years ago, which was hung outdoors and not varnished.
In it’s first spring it shone out copper amongst the green leaves, and in its most recent autumn it stood out green-grey amongst the bronzy beech leaves.
